Seven years after the game’s initial release, Nintendo announced it will shut down Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on November 28, 2024.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a mobile spin-off of the hugely successful Animal Crossing franchise. It allows players to decorate a campsite, befriend a slew of talking animal friends, complete quests, and much more.

While free-to-play, Pocket Camp offers optional in-game purchases and monthly subscription plans. Players will be able to purchase the game’s premium currency, Leaf Tickets, until November 26, 2024. They’ll be able to spend any Leaf Tickets they already have until the game is fully shuttered.

In terms of the game’s subscription plans, subscription enrollment will no longer be possible after October 28, 2024. At this time, automatic renewal for any existing subscriptions will also cease.

Thankfully, it’s not all bad news, as Nintendo revealed it will release a premium version of Pocket Camp that will allow players to carry over their save data from the free game using their Nintendo Account. This premium version won’t offer in-game purchases or subscription plans.

Since this premium version won’t require a constant internet connection, online features (like sending gifts to friends or visiting other players’ campsites) won’t be available. This may be disappointing, but losing a few features is a small price to pay when considering the alternative – losing all of our progress in the blink of an eye.

Nintendo said it will provide more details about the premium version of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, including its price and release date, “around October.”
