Fans of Overwatch and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have another upcoming 5v5 multiplayer shooter vying for their quickscoping skills this summer as Concord arrives on August 23 to challenge Marvel Rivals.
Developed by Firewalk Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the hero shooter has a focus on narrative, which, if the reveal trailer is anything to go by, takes more than a hint of inspiration from Guardians of the Galaxy. Concord will launch on PS5 and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, with an early access beta test for those who pre-order the game.
Players will pick from one of 16 Freegunners at launch in multiplayer matches with gunplay and abilities unique to each character. According to the game's director, Ryan Ellis, abilities have been inspired by fighting and strategy games to create a "unique assymetry to the characters and opportunities for improvisation that make every fight and every match-up a chance for something different and unexpected to happen".
Outside of the shootouts and battles between teams of mercenaries, Concord expands on its universe and story through cinematic vignettes, which are set to premiere inside the game with a new one every week after launch.
"These brief cinematic vignettes will feature ongoing narrative arcs that grow the characters’ stories, relationships, and unpack the broader Concord galaxy and life as a Freegunner," said Ellis. "The Concord galaxy is full of danger and adventure, and we’ll be unwrapping more in the coming weeks and months."

You can pre-order Concord for PS5 and PC now, with an early access beta coming sometime in the summer.
