Posted 3 months ago

It’s launch day for EA Sports College Football 25, and Restart is celebrating by bringing you some tips and tricks straight from the development team that should help you quickly become an expert on the field.

These tips cover the game’s Wear and Tear system, the Home Field Advantage mechanic, and the in’s and out’s of the game’s hefty Dynasty mode. Check them out below!

Wear and Tear

Restart: What long-term effects will the Wear And Tear system have as a game progresses?

Scott O’Gallagher, Design Director of EA Sports College Football: “Every limb and body part of a player is linked with unique attributes. For instance, if your quarterback's throwing arm receives a significant hit, you'll notice a decrease in your throw power and accuracy, etc.

“Similarly, damage to the legs will impact a player's change of direction and acceleration, making every movement feel slower. Each body part degrades at a different rate and the player’s toughness rating plays a critical role in how much damage is applied on a given hit. The more damaged a body part is, the higher the chance and severity of injury.”

Home Field Advantage

Restart: What are the best ways to play offense in a hostile environment?

Scott O’Gallagher: “Home Field Advantage is entirely situation based. Staying within manageable down and distances is vital to successfully moving the ball down the field. As the game situation gets tougher, the crowd noise intensifies. The louder the crowd gets, the higher the modifier and composure hits. I believe that the ground game success on early downs is more important than ever.”

Restart: Conversely, what's the best way to take advantage of a home field advantage in a big game?

Scott O’Gallagher: “I believe everything starts up front. You have to control the line of scrimmage and keep the opposition in long third down situations.”

Dynasty Mode

Restart: What are some things Dynasty players should keep in mind as they play through each season?

Ben Haumiller, Principal Game Designer of EA Sports College Football: “Pay attention to where you are in the season as the mode follows the real world calendar and certain things happen at specific points in the year.

  • League creation is your only shot to do custom conferences for year 1.
  • Pre-season is where you set up your initial recruiting board (a major component of having a successful class is a good starting board) and the only time you can do custom schedules for that season.
  • Week 10 is the start of November and your first peek at the CFP bracket and awards semi-finalists.
  • Conference Championship week is the only time you can fire your coordinators as you prepare for the carousel.
  • Awards are handed out in Bowl week 1.
  • Players leaving in the off-season is your opportunity to try and convince players from going pro early or from transferring.
  • Off-season recruiting is when the transfer portal happens.
  • You can make adjustments to conference membership during the last stage of each off-season with Custom Conferences.”
