Every Xbox Games Showcase 2024 Announcement

Quick, grab the duster and a can of compressed air, because your Xbox Series X/S is in for some serious use in the year ahead! Why? Because the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 has lifted the curtain on a full cast of exciting games – the bulk of which are coming to Xbox Game Pass on release! Here’s the full gamut of game trailers and announcements from the show.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Release date: October 25, 2024

The showcase opened with a bombastic campaign trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, or Blops 6 as we prefer to call it. It’s set in the 1990s, after the Cold War. Intrigue and conspiracy pair up with action in the trailer below. This one’s coming to Game Pass on day one.

Doom: The Dark Ages

Release date: 2025

Second came a new Doom game which rolls back the years to Hell’s Dark Ages. The trailer shows the Doomslayer sporting a cape and getting his hands on a spike-rimmed shield he can toss to cleave enemies in half. And yes, he still has a double-barreled shotgun. It’s coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S, and joins Game Pass day one.

State of Decay 3

Release date: Unknown

The wretched moans of the undead came next in State of Decay 3. The new trailer shows some action and a sad shrine to all those lost in ventures through zombie-ridden lands. No release date, but it will be on Game Pass day one.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Release date: Fall 2024

Blimey, they really aren’t hanging around with this showcase are they? After recently announcing its new name, Dragon Age: The Veilguard got its first trailer here, showcasing the core companions and a notably different tone and art style than from the series’ past. A look at gameplay will come June 11 – in just a few days' time!

Starfield: Shattered Space

Release date: 2024

And we’re lifting off to Starfield’s first expansion: Shattered Space. The trailer takes a rather sinister tone, teasing alien beasties and cult-like worship of artifacts in the city of Dazra on House Va’ruun’s hidden homeworld.

Fallout 76: Skyline Valley

Release date: June 12, 2024

Those hungry for more Fallout following the excellent Amazon Prime series can look forward to extra content for Fallout 76. The Skyline Valley expansion opens up a new environment, the chance to play as a Ghoul, and, yes indeed, a new experimental vault to explore.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Release date: 2025

Here’s something new: Clair Obscur is a turn-based RPG set in an alternate-world version of the Belle Époque. It follows a group attempting to end the reign of a dangerous figure called the Paintress.

South of Midnight

Release date: 2025

Next, some gameplay for the previously announced South of Midnight, a third-person adventure featuring stop motion-style visuals, a giant talking catfish, and an even larger alligator with an island on its back. Neat! It’ll be on PC and Xbox Series X/S, with a day one launch for Game Pass.

World of Warcraft: The War Within

Release date: August 26, 2024

The next expansion for eternal MMORPG World of Warcraft gets a release date in this latest trailer.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater

Release date: Unknown

Snaaaake Eaaaterrrrr! Konami’s remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 looks to be shaping up well. The trailer shows off some sneaky-beaky movement and gunplay amidst a woodland setting.

Sea of Thieves: Season 13

Release date: July 25, 2024

Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of malicious fun arrive in Sea of Thieves’s next season, which promises to let you play as a baddie of the ocean.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn

Release date: July 18, 2024

Upcoming soulslike Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn promises to let us have a pop at taking down fantasy gods with pistol, axe, and an arsenal of magical powers. It’s coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with a day one release on Game Pass.

Age of Mythology Retold

Release date: September 4, 2024

By Zeus’ beard, it’s a remake of Age of Empires spinoff, Age of Mythology! Pick from Egyptian, Norse, and Greek gods, then build up a city and smash your rivals. It’s another day one release for Game Pass.

Perfect Dark

Release date: Unknown

At long last, a trailer for what Joanna Dark’s return will actually look like! Lots of gameplay chunks to enjoy here, which show melee and slide-kicking takedowns reminiscent of Mirror’s Edge. Of course, Perfect Dark will come to Game Pass day one when it does arrive.

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred

Release date: October 8, 2024

Warning: the trailer for this one includes some very gruesome violence. A major update, Vessel of Hatred promises to add a new region and character class as it continues the story of the main game.

Fable

Release date: 2025

After that, the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 gave us a rather enjoyable trailer for Playground Games’ Fable. It shows off the world a bit more and some important figures within it.

FragPunk

Release date: 2025

A new 5v5 hero shooter, FragPunk features magical cards that let you do things like spawn a reaper behind your opponent, grow long grass you can hide in, or force all your opponents into Big Head Mode.

Winter Burrow

Release date: Early 2025

Next up was a game about a cute mouse surviving the harsh colds of winter. Watch out for the owls! Game Pass day one? You betcha.

Mixtape

Release date: 2025

It’s road trip time folks! This intriguing coming-of-age story promises a soundtrack packed with hits from the ‘80s. The lead character seems to have a mixtape that grants some supernatural powers. Day one on Game Pass!

Microsoft Flight Simulator

Release date: November 19, 2024

The visually astounding aircraft sim gets a new version this year, adding in new planes, commercial flights, and even animals to admire far below you. Of course, it’s day one on Game Pass.

Elder Scrolls Online

The Elder Scrolls Online celebrates its 10th anniversary ahead of the Gold Road expansion (launching June 18). As part of that, all of the game’s DLC will be free for to play for a limited period.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Developer Deck Nine is bringing back the original Life is Strange protagonist, Max Caufield, for a new dimension-shifting story in which she attempts to both solve and prevent a friend's murder.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle

Release date: 2024

Wolfenstein series developer MachineGames is behind Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. The snow-covered capers in this latest trailer only have us all the more excited. It’s another Game Pass day one release, folks!

Mecha Break

Release date: Unknown

Also featured in the Summer Game Fest 2024 opening show, Mecha Break is a multiplayer game about battling with customizable, transforming mechas.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Release date: 2025

Hankering for some hard-as-nails boss fights? Wuchang: Fallen Feathers looks set to serve up plenty in a soulslike action-RPG where you play as a cursed pirate warrior who uses Ornithropy magic. When it arrives, it’ll do so day one on Game Pass.

Avowed

Release date: 2024

Obsidian Entertainment is behind this first-person fantasy RPG. Swing swords and cast spells to face all manner of beasts in the Living Lands. And yes, it’ll be Game Pass day one.

Atomfall

Release date: 2025

From Sniper Elite developer Rebellion, Atomfall is a survival action game set in a post-nuclear disaster Britain. Game Pass subscribers can join in the jolly good time day one when it releases.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Release date: November 15, 2024

Moving on, the Xbox Game Showcase 2024 granted another look at Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which follows two lead figures through a story set in feudal Japan. The trailer shows off quite a bit of action, including both stealthy takedowns and more direct combat.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl

Release date: September 5, 2024

Ukrainian developer GSC Game World is readying up to release its long-awaited first-person shooter sequel. Stalker 2 will send you into the zone, where dangers include physics-defying anomalies, deadly monsters, and many of the other people roaming the land. It’ll be a day one release on Game Pass.

New Xbox Series X/S consoles

Release date: Holiday 2024

Sound the new hardware klaxon! Xbox announced new, all-digital versions of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, including a 1TB SSD Series X, 1TB SSD Series S, and 2TB SSD Series X.

Gears of War: E-Day

In a classic “one more thing” closure, the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 closed with a CG trailer for Gears of War: E-Day. It’ll follow Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago during the period in which the Locust horde emerged on Earth’s surface.
