Pokemon TCG Pocket is out now on iOS and Android devices. The free-to-play game allows players to collect virtual Pokemon trading cards and battle against players around the world.
In Pokemon TCG Pocket, players can open two free booster packs each day. A booster pack contains five random cards, and as players open more and more packs, duplicates are possible. At launch, only a single card set is available to collect – Genetic Apex – though additional sets will be added in the future. A trading feature is also coming soon.
In addition to opening booster packs, players can collect random cards that have recently been collected by other players through a Wonder Pick feature. This doesn’t “steal” the cards from the other players, but simply allows players to collect a matching card for their own collection.
Pokemon TCG Pocket also allows players to participate in Pokemon TCG battles against the computer and other players. The game features a detailed battle tutorial for beginners and advanced players, so even newcomers should have no problem jumping in.
As players collect cards, participate in battles, and perform other actions, they’ll complete missions rewarding them with various in-game items. Some items allow players to skip the wait to open new booster packs, enabling them to open more than two packs in a single day. Other items recharge the Wonder Pick feature, which also has a limited number of uses each day.
As a free-to-play game, Pokemon TCG Pocket offers optional ways to spend real money. For one, the game’s optional Premium Pass subscription is priced at $9.99 per month and gives subscribers multiple benefits, such as the ability to open three booster packs each day and access to premium missions. The Premium Pass can be tried for free via a two-week trial.
