It’s finally here! Minecraft’s Tricky Trials update is now available for all Java and Bedrock Edition players, giving everyone the chance to discover and play around with some cool new content.
The Tricky Trials update receives its name from the Trial Chambers that are featured within it. These copper labyrinths are filled with a slew of dangerous enemies, including two new mobs: the Breeze and the Bogged. As the name suggests, the Breeze is a windy enemy that launches a ranged attack that can send players flying, while the Bogged is a poisonous skeleton that can also be found in swamps.
In addition to being home to dangerous new enemies, Trial Chambers also feature Vaults, special blocks that reward players with helpful items when unlocked with a Trial Key. These keys can be earned by defeating all of the mobs that appear from a Trial Spawner in a Trial Chamber.
If players find these regular Trial Chambers are too easy to clear, they can also trigger Ominous Trials to really test their skills against even harder enemies.
Also new in the Tricky Trials update is the Mace weapon, which can be used to unleash devastating attacks on enemies as players “land” on them from above. Unfortunately, the Mace will be pretty difficult to earn, as it can only be crafted using a Breeze Rod (dropped by Breeze mobs) and a Heavy Core (a prize that can only be claimed from “Ominous Vaults” found during Ominous Trials).
Here are some of the other new items and features included in the Tricky Trials update:
- The Wind Charge item (dropped by defeated Breezes) can be used to damage enemies and send them flying backwards. It can also boost the player’s jumps.
- New armor trims, pottery sherds, and banners are available.
- An auto-crafter can automatically craft the desired item in bulk so long as players provide the ingredients and a redstone signal.
- New decorative blocks, such as new Tuff and Copper blocks, are available.
- Twenty new paintings are available.
