Pokemon Go Halloween 2024 Part 2 Features Gigantamax Gengar

Halloween is quickly approaching, and this spooky season, Pokemon Go is celebrating the holiday with a major two-part event. We’ve already brought you details about the game’s Halloween 2024 Part 1 event, and now, we’re here with a breakdown of the Halloween 2024 Part 2 event!

Event date and time

The Halloween 2024 Part 2 event will run from Monday, October 28, 2024 at 10 a.m. local time until Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 8 p.m. local time

New Pokemon added with this event

Gigantamax Gengar will become available to encounter in six-star Max Battles during the Halloween 2024 Part 2 event. More details can be found in the “Max Battles” section below.

Event bonuses and features

The following in-game bonuses and content updates will be active during Pokemon Go’s Halloween 2024 Part 2 event:

2x Catch Candy
Increased chance of encountering Shiny Zorua in the wild
Increased chance for players who have reached at least Level 31 to receive Candy XL when catching Pokemon with Nice, Great, or Excellent throws
Event-themed stickers will be available to collect
PokeStop Showcases will be active
A remix of the Pokemon franchise’s Lavender Town music will play each night during the event
Pokemon encounter backgrounds, PokeStops, and Gyms will be decorated for Halloween

Halloween Day Rare Candy chance

On Halloween Day itself, October 31, players will have a “small chance” to receive Rare Candy or Rare Candy XL when catching a costumed Pokemon with a Nice, Great, or Excellent throw.

Wild encounters

During the Pokemon Go Halloween 2024 Part 2 event, the following Pokemon will appear more frequently than normal in the wild:

Vulpix wearing a Spooky Festival costume
Shuppet
Piplup wearing a Halloween Mischief costume
Woobat
Zorua
Froakie wearing a Pokemon Halloween costume
Inkay
Phantump
Pumpkaboo wearing a Spooky Festival costume
Rowlet wearing a Pokemon Halloween costume

Pikachu wearing a witch hat will also have the chance to appear in the wild during the Halloween 2024 Part 2 event, though it will be rarer than the other featured Pokemon.

All of these Pokemon, including Pikachu wearing a witch hat, will have the chance to be Shiny.

Eggs

7 km Eggs collected during the Halloween 2024 Part 2 event will have the chance to contain one of four different Pokemon:

Vulpix wearing a Spooky Festival costume
Pichu wearing a witch hat
Froakie wearing a Pokemon Halloween costume
Rowlet wearing a Pokemon Halloween costume

All of these Pokemon will have an increased chance of being Shiny.

Raids

Players will be able to battle the following Pokemon in Raids during the Halloween 2024 Part 2 event:

One-Star Raids

Pikachu wearing a witch hat
Froakie wearing a Pokemon Halloween costume
Rowlet wearing a Pokemon Halloween costume

Three-Star Raids

Gengar wearing a Spooky Festival costume
Umbreon
Drifblim wearing a Halloween Mischief costume

All of these Pokemon will have the possibility of being Shiny. Plus, Gengar wearing a Spooky Festival costume, Umbreon, Drifblim wearing a Halloween mischief costume, Froakie wearing a Pokemon Halloween costume, and Rowlet wearing a Pokemon Halloween costume will have an increased chance of being Shiny.

Max Battles

Gigantamax Gengar will appear in six-star Max Battles from October 31, 2024 at 10 a.m. local time until November 3, 2024 at 8 p.m. local time. The Gengar encountered after winning one of these battles will have the chance to be Shiny.

Field Research

During the Halloween 2024 Part 2 event, players will be able to complete themed Field Research tasks to receive Pokemon encounters and Mega Energy as rewards.

The following Pokemon encounters will be possible:

Pikachu wearing a witch hat
Vulpix wearing a Spooky Festival costume
Piplup wearing a Halloween Mischief costume
Froakie wearing a Pokemon Halloween costume
Rowlet wearing a Pokemon Halloween costume
Morepeko

Spiritomb will also have the chance to appear in these Field Research reward encounters, though it will be rarer than the other available Pokemon.

The following Mega Energy rewards will be possible:

Gengar Mega Energy
Houndoom Mega Energy
Sableye Mega Energy
Banette Mega Energy
Absol Mega Energy

With the exception of Morpeko, all of these Pokemon (including Spiritomb) will have the possibility of being Shiny. As of this writing, Shiny Morpeko isn’t available in Pokemon Go.

New Avatar Items

During the Halloween 2024 Part 2 event (and following its conclusion), players will be able to purchase Halloween-themed avatar items from the in-game shop:

Woobat Top Hat
Morpeko Onesie (Full Belly Mode)
Morpeko Onesie (Hangry Mode)

Free Timed Research

The free Timed Research introduced during Part 1 of the Halloween 2024 event will remain available throughout Part 2. It will expire on November 3, 2024 at 8 p.m. local time.

This Timed Research will reward players with encounters with Halloween-themed Pokemon (like Morpeko) and Spiritomb.

Premium Timed Research

The two sets of premium Timed Research from Part 1 of the Halloween 2024 event – one priced at $2 and the other at $5 – will also be available to purchase during the Halloween 2024 Part 2 event. Here’s a reminder of what each Timed Research entails:

The $2 Timed Research will allow players to encounter Halloween-themed costumed Pokemon as they complete tasks:

One of two avatar items, determined by the player’s choice: The Morpeko Onesie (Full Belly Mode) or the Morpeko Onesie (Hangry Mode)

Both sets of Timed Research will be available to purchase until November 2, 2024 at 8 p.m. local time.
