Pokemon Go will celebrate the festive season with a two-part holiday event.

The winter holiday season is quickly approaching, and with it comes a festive two-part event in Pokemon Go. The 2024 Holiday Part 1 event will kick off first on December 17, 2024.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Holiday Part 1 event coming to Pokemon Go!

Event date and time

The Holiday Part 1 event will run from Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 10 a.m. local time until Sunday, December 22, 2024 at 9:59 a.m. local time.

New Pokemon with this event

Once the Holiday Part 1 event begins, Dedenne wearing holiday attire and Shiny Sandygast will become available in Pokemon Go. Dedenee wearing holiday attire will have the chance to be Shiny.

Wild encounters

The following Pokemon will appear more frequently than normal in the wild during this event:

  • Alolan Sandshrew
  • Alolan Diglett
  • Swinub
  • Delibird wearing a holiday ribbon
  • Numel
  • Snover
  • Darumaka
  • Litleo
  • Bergmite
  • Sandygast

All of these Pokemon will have the chance to be Shiny.

Event bonuses

Two in-game bonuses will be active during the Holiday Part 1 event:

  • 2x XP when catching Pokemon
  • 1/2 Egg hatch distance for Eggs placed into Incubators during the event period

Here’s the Raid lineup for the Holiday Part 1 event:

One-Star Raids

  • Pikachu wearing a Winter Carnival outfit
  • Psyduck wearing holiday attire
  • Dedenne wearing holiday attire
  • Sandygast

Three-Star Raids

  • Stantler wearing a holiday outfit
  • Glaceon wearing an Undersea Holiday outfit
  • Cryogonal

Mega Raids

  • Mega Latias
  • Mega Latios

All of these Pokemon will have the chance to be Shiny.

Eggs

The following Pokemon will have the chance to hatch from 7 km Eggs that are collected during the Holiday Part 1 event:

  • Hisuian Growlithe
  • Pichu with summer flair
  • Spheal wearing a holiday scarf
  • Cubchoo wearing a holiday ribbon
  • Amaura
  • Charcadet

Shiny Charcadet isn’t available in Pokemon Go. The rest of the Pokemon on this list will have the chance to be Shiny.

Field Research

Players will be able to complete Field Research tasks during the Holiday Part 1 event to receive event-themed Pokemon encounters.

Collection Challenges

Players will be able to complete Collection Challenges during this event to receive Poke Balls, Stardust, and Great Balls.

PokeStop Showcases

Players will be able to enter their event-themed Pokemon at PokeStop Showcases for the chance to win in-game rewards.

Premium Timed Research

During the Holiday Part 1 event, players will have the option to spend $2 on a ticket that will give them access to Timed Research tasks. If players complete these tasks before time runs out, they’ll receive two Premium Battle Passes, one Incubator, 1,500 Stardust, and event-themed Pokemon encounters.

Premium boxes on the Pokemon Go Web Store

For the Holiday Part 1 event, two premium boxes will be available to purchase on the Pokemon Go Web Store.

The Ultra Holiday Box will be priced at $4.99 and will contain a Pokemon Storage upgrade, an Item Bag upgrade, and 17 Rare Candies.

The Holiday Part 1 Ultra Ticket Box will be priced at $6.99 and will include the premium ticket for the Holiday Part 1 Timed Research, the premium ticket for the Holiday Part 2 event, and a Premium Battle Pass.
