Pokemon Go Max Particles Guide
Our overview will show you how to collect and (perhaps more importantly) get rid of Max Particles.

Dynamax and Gigatamax battles are recent additions to Pokemon Go, allowing players to battle super-sized versions of Pokemon in Max Battles.
With the addition of Max Battles to Pokemon Go, a new currency was also introduced: Max Particles, or MP. These particles can be collected and used in many ways, and our guide is here to break them down for you!
How to collect Max Particles
Max Particles can be collected in multiple ways. You can collect up to 800 Max Particles per day, and you can hold up to 1,000 Max Particles in your inventory at one time.
Here are the different ways you can collect Max Particles.
When you’re near a Power Spot (a bright pink spot on the map that looks similar to a Pokemon Gym), tap on the spot and swipe on the Max Particles that appear to collect them. You will receive bonus Max Particles when you interact with a Power Spot for the first time.
As you walk around the real-world, you will also automatically generate a small number of Max Particles. You can collect these free Max Particles by opening the game’s Nearby menu and tapping the “Power Spot” tab.
Finally, you can purchase Max Particles from the in-game shop. 800 Max Particles cost 150 PokeCoins, while 2,400 Max Particles cost 450 PokeCoins.
How to use Max Particles
There are multiple ways to use Max Particles.
Max Particles are used to enter Max Battles at Power Spots. For instance, it may cost 250 MP to battle Dynamax Sobble.
Max Particles can also be used to train Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon (that is, Pokemon that have the ability to participate in Max Battles). These Pokemon are marked with a large “X” symbol in your inventory. Tap one of these Pokemon, and then tap “Dynamax” to see the three “Max Moves” the Pokemon can learn. You can spend Pokemon Candy and MP to unlock and level up these moves, making your Pokemon stronger.
When you need to get rid of Max Particles
Pokemon Go sometimes gives players tasks that ask them to collect Max Particles. Since players can only hold a limited number of Max Particles at any one time, it’s possible players may need to get rid of some of the Max Particles they’re already holding before they can collect more to complete the task.
As of this writing, Max Particles don’t show up in the Pokemon Go item bag, so they can’t be deleted like other objects (such as Potions and Revives).
As this is the case, we recommend holding onto every Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon you collect in Pokemon Go, so that you always have a place to “dump” extra Max Particles when you need to get rid of some. This will allow you to quickly train one of your Pokemon’s Max Moves and then collect more Max Particles to complete your current task, all without having to participate in a Max Battle.
