Everything Sony Showed Off in the September State of Play

The September PlayStation State of Play gave PS5 owners plenty to be excited about, with announcements of remasters, sequels, and plenty more. We've rounded up everything from the State of Play showcase below so you can quickly catch up on all the announcements and trailers.
Ghost of Yotei is a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima
The biggest announcement of the night was a sequel to Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima. It will star a new protagonist and takes place around Mount Yotei in Hokkaido, more than 300 years after the events of the first game.
Astro Bot to get new levels
Team Asobi’s excellent and adorable platformer Astro Bot is getting a free update with five new speedrunning levels this fall. The update will also add 10 more Special Bots for players to collect, including a Helldiver and Eve from Stellar Blade. Chris adored Astro Bot in Restart’s review, giving it our highest rating.
The Midnight Walk brings clay to life
Coming to PS5 and PS VR2, The Midnight Walk is an eerie dark fantasy adventure that follows a lantern-headed character called Potboy. All its elements were hand-crafted with clay and 3D scanned into the game. Neat!
Hell is Us won't hold your hand
Fantasy action-adventure game Hell is Us wants players to take the lead in their own adventures. It won’t include quest markers or a detailed map, instead encouraging players to explore and uncover the world more directly. Be sure to pay close attention to any information the people of the land convey. More will be shown on September 30.
Metro Awakening arrives November 7
The Metro series’ foray into virtual reality is set to release on November 7. The new trailer tracks the story of Khan, also known as Serdar, the game's protagonist.
ArcheAge Chronicles heads online next year
Formerly titled ArcheAge 2, this online action RPG will come to PC and PS5 in 2025. It’s set in a fantasy realm and promises plenty of story and a focus on action combat, as well as epic raids.
Palworld’s PS5 release is now live
The creature-capturing and base-building phenomenon from January has now launched on PS5. It’s an open-world survival crafting game in which you can collect Pokemon-style creatures. Set the bulk of them to work building and maintaining your base while you prepare to explore and take on powerful bosses with your strongest team. Oh, and Palworld features multiplayer support for up to 32 players.

Lunar Remastered Collection restores retro PlayStation RPGs
Arriving in spring 2025, the Lunar Remastered Collection combines Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete into a single package with updated visuals and improvements.
TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge Radical Reptiles DLC is out now
One of the best retro-style beat ‘em ups now has an extra helping courtesy of the Radical Reptiles DLC, which adds Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa as new characters.
Sonic X Shadow Generations gets a splash of Keanu
The Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack DLC for Sonic X Shadow Generations will release December 12. It features scenes inspired by the upcoming film and will be included in the game’s digital deluxe edition.

Fantasian Neo Dimension arrives in our universe December 5
Formerly an Apple Arcade release, Fantasian Neo Dimension will expand the original Fantasian to new platforms and introduce additional voice acting, difficulty options, and 4K support (for PS5).

Dragon Age: The Veilguard trailer takes wing
The September State of Play offered another look at BioWare’s hotly anticipated action RPG. This trailer shows a mission to take down, fittingly, a big winged lizard called Corius the Icetalon. Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches October 31.
Alan Wake 2: The Lake House is looking suitably creepy
This expansion to Alan Wake 2 takes place in an unwelcoming abode near Cauldron Lake. It ties in with the Federal Bureau of Control from developer Remedy’s excellent 3D metroidvania, Control.
Hitman World of Assassination enters PS VR2 in December
The full Hitman World of Assassination is set to arrive on PS VR2 this December. The new State of Play trailer shows off fancy interactions like dual wielding.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered announced
Aspyr revealed a remaster of the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver games, coming to PS4 and PS5 on December 10. As well as control improvements, Trophies, and camera upgrades, the 25th anniversary celebration includes a toggle to switch between the original and updated visuals on the fly.

Fortnite DualSense controller revealed, split-screen comes to Lego Fortnite
Epic Games gave a quick reveal of a new Fortnite DualSense wireless controller covered in sketches and graffiti inspired by the game. In addition, Lego Fortnite will add split-screen in October.

Armies are already mustering for the release date of Dynasty Warriors: Origins. The Three Kingdoms hack-and-slash game launches January 17.

Monster Hunter Wilds shows off the White Wraith
Monster Hunter Wilds’ February 28 release date is steadily approaching. Today’s new trailer shows off several story and action chunks before revealing a flagship monster, the White Wraith. Check out how our fledgling hunts went down in our Gamescom preview of Monster Hunter Wilds. More will be shown during a Tokyo Game Show broadcast on September 26.

If you needed more incentive to pick up Aloy’s upcoming blockified adventure, a video shows off several pre-order bonuses, including the Shield-Weaver outfit.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered releases October 31
Even more Aloy for you here with news of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. It’s on the way October 31 for PC and PS5. It promises revamped visuals that utilize the PS5’s power, along with 10 hours of re-recorded conversations and added mo-cap. If you own the original PS4 game, you can upgrade for $9.99.
Stellar Blade gets a photo mode and Nier Automata DLC
Challenging action game Stellar Blade is getting a DLC crossover with Nier: Automata later this year, which looks to include a 2B outfit for protagonist Eve. Alongside that, Stellar Blade will also be updated with a photo mode.
PS Plus October games revealed
Next was a quick roundup of October’s PS Plus games. This batch includes WWE 2K24, Dead Space, and Doki Doki Literature Club Plus. They’re available from October 1. In addition, Dino Crisis and Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain will join PlayStation Plus Premium later this year. Finally, The Last of Us Part 1 will be added to the Extra and Premium subscription tiers on September 26.
PS5 Chroma Collection will make your machine glisten
A new colorway family for the PS5 was revealed during the September State of Play. Three new sparkly designs are available: Chroma Pearl, Chroma Indigo, and Chroma Teal. The former two launch November 7, with Teal arriving January 23.
An extra look at the PS5 Pro and its enhanced games
Mark Cerny appeared to explain a little more about the PS5 Pro. He was followed by a showcase of games that are being enhanced for the new machine, including FF7: Rebirth, Horizon Forbidden West, The Last of Us: Part 2, Gran Turismo 7, and more.
