Welcome to Restart!

Restart is powered by Walmart, but Restart operates as an independent site. When we mention a game, we'll provide purchase links that will take you to Walmart using a partner tracking code. This link provides us with 0% of the sale if you decide to buy the product, but it does help Walmart see exactly how customers arrived at the product. Walmart doesn't influence our editorial direction.

We hope you can see this gives us zero incentive to provide biased review scores or other information about a game.

We want Restart to be a source you can trust -- the video game industry’s latest (and in our humble opinion, greatest) independent source for gaming analysis and entertainment.

Our goal is to bring you deeper into the games you love, and to help you find new ones like them. When you’re reading about a game you’re excited about, we’ll recommend others like it – and some of our own favorites in case our tastes match yours.

The internet can be an exhausting place, but we want Restart to be an escape from the noise (and ads) where you can celebrate your favorite hobby. Amidst an ever-changing media landscape, we hope you’ll come to rely on Restart for breaking news, exclusive developer interviews, behind-the-scenes content, and more, all presented in a beautiful, user-friendly package without programmatic advertising and cookies to clutter or slow down the site experience.

Our team is dedicated to editorial integrity and providing you with honest, trustworthy reporting covering everything from triple-A blockbusters to indie darlings and beyond.

Restart is run by a group of full-time staff, but we’ll also rely on freelancers when a game needs expertise outside our collective wheelhouse. You also don’t have to worry about seeing AI-generated content on Restart. Every piece will be hand-crafted by our writers, and written for human eyes rather than searching robots.

Allow me to introduce you to the team!

Brandy Berthelson (that’s me!) is Restart’s Editor-in-Chief. She’s been covering video games and technology for almost 18 years. The Elder Scrolls, Ratchet & Clank, and Animal Crossing franchises are some of her favorites, and you can expect to see her cover lots of cozy, family-friendly games here on Restart.

Next, Henry Stenhouse is our resident soulslike sufferer. He lives in search of a worthy challenge – an eternal hunger imbued through far too many years spent in Counter-Strike AWP duels. His other genre darlings include survival horror, digital board games, Western RPGs, Fire Emblem, and pretty much anything Nintendo spits out. He’ll be interviewing industry insiders and fixing up features when he isn’t failing to dodge boss attack chains.

Henry's Survival Horror Standouts

Chris Higgins rounds us out with a keen eye for breakthrough indies, extremely average parry window timings, and lapsed MMRs in both Dota and Counter-Strike. We’re very proud of him for escaping the ranked grindset. You’ll now find him keeping a broad watch on the latest gaming news and he will be insufferable when (and if) Silksong ever releases.

Helping bring everything together is our Editorial Director John Benyamine (Gamer Network, USgamer), and Managing Editor John Gaudiosi (Hollywood Reporter, Forbes), both co-founders of Moonrock. We also want to thank and look forward to contributions from our Lead Video Editor David Ahmadi (Gamespot) and contributing writer Jason Fanelli (various). Our larger team of support staff, including developers Joe Stasio and Ryan Warner, along with many others behind the scenes, played a crucial role in creating this site. We look forward to introducing you to everyone in the coming months!
